Gilson Pond Campground

The Gilson Pond Area is closed to all public access until further notice due to construction of a new family camping area. This closure is anticipated to extend into late May 2007, but may be adjusted as needed. Please check back here before planning a visit to the Gilson Pond Area.

Hikers are also asked to utilize hiking and cross country skiing opportunities other than those that originate from the Gilson Pond Area.

Recreational users (including hikers and cross country skiers) are advised to utilize Monadnock State Park Headquarters during this time. Unidentified construction hazards and unsigned relocation of roads and trails may be present which could create difficulties and safety concerns.

Dublin Trail

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF), in cooperation with the New Hampshire Division of Parks & Recreation, is in the process of constructing a new Dublin Trail parking area and trailhead according to development goals identified in the 2003 Monadnock Master Plan.

The traditional trail route for the beginning 0.6 miles from the Old Troy Road will be relocated approximately 0.3 miles further west of the old trailhead. This relocation is anticipated to be completed for the spring of 2007, with a subsequent closure of the old trail route. Hikers will be asked not to use the old trail once the relocation is completed, as it is in a current forest management area with active logging.
